  • 2 301 and 302 Redirects and Its Differences

A website consists of various technical and non technical related terms and SEO is one of the major parts of the website which helps to rank your site top in the search engine. This is one of the main tools which are used to reach the public and also to stand out of the crowd. Here are some factors about the various techniques used by the seo specialist for making their website. Redirection is one of the terms associated with website which is the process of forwarding URL to a different URL. There are mainly three types of redirects available which include 301, 302 and Meta refresh. The 301 is a redirect which is moved permanently and is best one recommended for the SEO, the 302 is the found or moved temporarily redirects. The redirect is a process of sending both the search engines and users to a different URL and not letting them to go to the originally requested site.

Redirect of a page is done for many reasons which includes , when URL of site is broken or it do not work properly, if webpage / site is no longer active or it has any trouble, you have created a new website and you want your visitors to visit new site instead of old site. If your site is undergoing any kind of testing or if you are testing a webpage for which you want to temporarily make a detour for visitors for continual website experience. This is also done if you want your users to make best pancakes or just for kidding.

302 Redirect- a Common Redirect Used in SEO

The 302 redirect is one of the common way of URL redirection which is also called as temporary redirect and a successor of 301 redirect. This is mainly done in order to redirect visitors who are visiting your site into another webpage and you can bring the redirected page after sometime. The 302 redirect will not pass all qualities of the original page to redirected page. The page rank, page authority, mozrank, traffic value everything is still maintained by redirected page and there is no chance of accumulating these factors by detour page. The redirection is mostly done when there is a change in design of website, coding, updating and navigation of website etc. 302 redirect is mostly used by seo specialists when they want to test a new page which is for getting client feedback but they do not want to change or damage the old page history or rankings. By using the 302 redirect it is safe to retain page rank in original site as it does not pass any page rank or the link value to the new location or the redirected page. This is mainly used as a diversion to a new location for protecting visitors from the broken links and the 404 errors. This is a redirect which is commonly used by e-commerce sites as the seller will have the products that are seasonal in nature. This is mainly for putting website in maintenance mode and for doing the updating. This can direct visitors to similar products of interest hut they cannot place the order in the new page redirected. This redirect is used when requested content in search engine is temporarily offline, when original page becomes available then the page rank can be restored.

301 and 302 Redirects and Its Differences

There is only a subtle difference between 301 and 302 redirect and they are not interchangeable, if you choose to do mistake by choosing 302 redirect instead of 301 then whole seo juice will be a great loss. Redirection is one of the important factors done in seo and it is very important to observe best practices to maintain the seo value. Sometimes redirects can hurt your website and even the seo efforts of the website. when you do redirection for your page it may cause the pages to load slower because, this is mainly because it is a waste of time to go to one place and then just getting redirected to another page. When 302 redirect is done to the page, there will be more and more visitors who will be getting redirected to page and many of them use this in the mobile devices causing more problem. The websites which has implemented mobile seo solution recently should pay close attention to page redirection. The 302 redirects mainly affect users who use this in the mobile devices as they uses the less reliable mobile networks than the desktop users. The redirects mainly cause significant performance and the speed issues in loading of your website.

It is better to avoid redirects and if you do not use the redirect then you are serving the content of your website even faster. If you have a redirection code in your website then it is a great waster in your code, especially for the mobile device. The 302 is one of server side redirects which are fast and cacheable, in this redirect the server is using HTTP to direct the browser to a new location. You can check for the redirects in your page by using the seo tools which helps to detects and displays the 301 and 302 redirects. It is important to check redirects in your site and to change them because it can lead to slowing down of your pages. Removing the redirects is important, you have to find the redirect, understand why redirect exist in your site, check to see how it affects other redirects, remove it if it is not needed, update it if it affects other redirects.
