The words you use in copywriting can help the customer trust your brand especially when they are searching for the solution to their problem.

Your copywriting is a way to tell the world that your brand is different, and it also places you at the top of the competition.

Website copywriting helps in boosting sales in so many ways:

i)  Copywriting makes your business easily findable.

ii) It builds credibility in the eyes of your customers. 

iii) It helps you in achieving your business goals.

Discover Who Your Audience Is

The first tip of copywriting that will help you boost sales is understanding who your target audience is. 

First, you need to know who you are addressing, and to understand this, you need to create a buyer persona. This means you need to do proper research about your audience and find out what your audience likes or dislikes. 

You can consider some of the following things while creating a buyer persona for website copywriting

i) Job

ii) Age

iii) Location

iv) Marital status

Once you have determined all the traits of your target audience, you can easily create a buyer persona for your brand.

For instance, if you have a business selling novels. You cannot target the audience which is going to kindergarten because the product is not meant for them. 

A single product can have a different buyer persona. 

One might be Rowan, an undergraduate literature student who wants to read novels to enhance his literature knowledge, or Alice, a high school girl who is purchasing novels to enhance her English writing skills. 

These fictional characters humanize the characters you are going to sell to. Knowing who your audience is will help you create the right copywriting to attract them to your brand.

Have heard the tagline of Nike which says 

“Just do it”

Just do it

These are not just words but action provoking actions, which will eventually provoke the audience to take action. 

Nike came up with these brand words in 1988, for professional and amateur athletes. One of the first television spots of the campaign featured a video of 80-year-old marathoner Walt Stack elaborating how he ran 17 miles everyday morning.

That’s how the tagline of Nike provokes the emotions to take action. 

After that, Nike received tons of emails from their customers telling the brand how they “just did it”. 

And the rest is history!

So, try to use action words as much as possible.

Use Psychological Tricks 

Using psychological tricks can be very beneficial for you. As a copywriter, you need to generate sales. 

You can use the concept of ‘Loss aversion’ on your website for generating more and more sales.

It’s a psychological concept that is about the fear of loss in people’s minds. 

Usually, this trick is used in marketing, but you can use it in copywriting as well. 

Let me explain to you how.

Urgency is a great way to convince the visitor to convert.

So, write in such a way that creates the fear of loss and urgency in people’s minds. 

When a visitor sees that they have limited time to avail themselves of some service or buy a product, it creates a sense of urgency in their mind, which eventually leads them to make decisions urgently.

That’s how the visitor will act out of fear of loss. 

So, write in such a way and create urgency in the minds of visitors.

Write with AIDA model

AIDA is a very effective buyer’s model that is very results-driving when implemented carefully. 

You should keep this model in your mind while writing for the website. 

Let me elaborate on this method to you before I jump on how to use this while website copywriting.

i) Awareness: If you want to attract visitors to your website, you will have to be focused on writing appealing headlines which create awareness and attract the visitors and make them stay stick to your content.

ii) Interest: Now it’s the time to generate the interest of your visitor by promising. 

What does that mean?                                       

Let me make it more clear to you.

You can trigger your audience by showing the benefits of your product. It will make them take more interest in your brand. 

iii) Desire: Now it’s the time to build desire in the heart of your audience to buy your product or service. Use copywriting techniques to tell your audience how your product or services can help them or make their life easier. 

Make your audience fall in love with your products or services. 

iv) Action: Then, you need to create a powerful and actionable CALL TO ACTION to make your audience take action.

Use this AIDA model and you will see a tremendous boost in your sales. 

Write Appealing Headlines

As I have already mentioned above, you need to write appealing headlines to generate awareness in the AIDA model. 

You must write an appealing headline to make your reader continue reading.

And make sure you don’t write anything on the page that does not match your headline.

And never use clickbait because it will attract the wrong visitor, it will also increase your bounce rate and the plus point is, you will disappoint your audience with clickbait.

And if this happens readers will never come to your page.


You can also follow some steps to make your audience feel pleased with your headline:

ii)  Break long paragraphs into short ones.

iii) Use points 

iv) Bold the important facts 

v)  Use a correct color combination

Write An Appealing CTAs

As you already know CTA stands for Call To Action. These are the buttons that bring conversion to the company.

If you want to increase your conversion rate and persuade visitors to take particular action then, you should wisely choose your CTA button. 

Basically, you need a clear CTA button that tells the reader what to do next.

Never use words like “Next” or “continue” as it doesn’t make it clear what to do next. 

Instead, try using phrases like, 

i)   Subscribe to our newsletter

ii)  Shop now

iii) Call now

Let me explain it with an example from our website.

“This simple video reveals a few strategies from our bucket that will help you to explode sales”

These words are enough to provoke my visitor to take the action that I want them to take.

Make Your Content Easy To Ready  

A study by Nielsen Norman Group found that “79% of readers are scanners and only 16% read word-by-word.”

That simply means you are not writing content for readers but for scanners. 

That means you need to be more clear and specific. 

Writing so much content is not the issue, but not following a proper format is. 

Following are the ways you can use to make your content easily readable for all. 

i)  properly use, H1, H2, H3… etc tags.

ii) Write short sentences 

iii) Break the paragraphs into short lines. 

iv) Use bullet points for the explanation. 

v) Bold the important facts

For better understanding, let me give you an example. 

First of all, see the content given below:

I know you might be thinking,” what exactly is this new term called power words?”

Power words play an important role in copywriting. Words like, “You”, “Your”, “Free”, “Now”, “New”, “Because,” “Instantly” “Exclusive” have a very powerful impact in provoking the audience to take action and boost sales.

So, you need to be very conscious while using the power words in your website copywriting. 

Focus On Benefits 

Consider this: what does outstanding website copywriting look like?

The answer is simple, the one which is customer-centric and focuses on all the benefits.

Focus on benefits

Because the benefits that you are showing to your customer will lead them to take your services. 

No matter which product or services you are selling, your copy must be benefit-driven to your customers. 

Why? Because people don’t care about how many advanced features your product has but they only care about how your product is going to solve their problems. 

So, you must be focused on the benefits.

Basically, you can be focused on some things like, 

i)  What will you do for your target audience?

ii)  What problems will you address?

iii) How is your audience going to be benefitted?

Just focus on these questions while writing for the website and it will tremendously boost your sales.

Take Vantage Of Competitor’s Weaknesses

After applying so many tactics, keep an eye on your competitor as well. 

Why? So that you can take advantage of your competitor’s weakness. Keep an eye on them and identify how they are presenting their products and services to their audience.

And once you have analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of your competitors, you can easily provoke the audiences to why they should choose you before others.
