Sound amazing! If this was true many of you would read this blog more than once I bet!

Don’t feel sad, it was just to make you understand the concept of a call to action.

Trust me, it is such an amazing technique to boost your leads.

Your CTA is one of the most important parts of your marketing campaigns. It makes a huge difference between losing a potential customer and making a sale.

Want to know how?

Let’s read further.

But before that, we’ll start with understanding what is a call to action.

So, let’s get started!

What Is A Call To Action?

Inverted Pyramid Model

A call to action is the part of an advertisement that encourages visitors to take the desired action!

The goal of having a call to action in your marketing campaign helps your audience to make a purchase.

There are many types of call to action that encourages the audience to take different action in their purchasing journey. Like:

  1. Purchase a subscription
  2. Sign up for the newsletter
  3. Watch the video
  4. Try for free
  5. Learn more

The simplest example of a call to action is “Buy Now”.

For example: If you scroll our home page www.incrementors.com, you will notice on the top there is a CTA to get PDF.

When you scroll down, you will notice the CTA that offers a free instant audit.

Instant audit

And on the same page when scrolling a little bit more you will see another CTA.

Why Is A Call To Action Important?

Call to action is important to draw the customers’ attention and make them take the actions you want.

For that, you will need to grab their attention first, by selecting the right fonts, appropriate words, and colors.

Once you have succeeded in grabbing the attention of the viewers, then you can target them the way you want.

It is important to create a call to action. What’s the point of writing a persuasive write-up when you don’t give them an option to take action.

Your audience will get confused and think about what to do next if you don’t give them an option.

That’s why a call to action is important.

Nine Killer Tips to Create CTA to Boost Your Leads With Examples

Apply Action words

The best way you can create CTA is to apply action words and let your audience know what they need to do next.

Action words example

Here you can see that the CTA on my website clearly tells the users what they actually have to do.

I have evoked the visitors’ attention to watch ‘30 Minute Strategy Session’ by giving them an actionable button.

Also, try to use emotions and enthusiasm in your CTA as much as possible. If your CTA doesn’t provoke emotions, what’s the point of creating it?

You can provoke emotions by using some of these words in your CTA:

Examples of some Emotions provoking CTAs:

Buy Now CTA

Spotify homepage

Limited Period Offer CTA

Offer CTA example

Shop Now CTA

Shopping CTA

You can use such call-to-action words like this for getting more clicks on your CTA button.

Make Them Curious

A good CTA depends on the psychology of the visitors.

For better understanding, you can take a look at the image shown below:

Spin CTA

 “Curiosity is the key”

Let me explain you with the example of Gamification

Gamification is a kind of technique in which the website owner uses some gaming mechanics in a non-gaming website.

It is just to grab the attention of the users and attract them towards the game, and then drag them towards taking actions into CTAs.

Like, in the above image, there is a game along with a CTA.

When a viewer visits the website, the spin win game will definitely draw his attention, and once he starts playing the game, he might take action by seeing the CTA along with the game.

And trust me, the CTAs that generate curiosity among the visitors are usually successful in boosting more leads.

You will have to make your CTA ‘irresistible’.

Also, you can show your CTA as ‘benefit driven’ to get more clicks and boost your leads.

Another example of curiosity driven CTA:

Netflix homepage

Here “See what’s next” is generating curiosity among the viewers which will eventually make them hit the Call To Action button.

You can take inspiration from this calling action example and apply it while creating a Call To Action button on your website.

Creativity Is Intelligence Having Fun!

You might have already heard these words before.

This great quote is given by Albert Einstein.

Now, the question that might be arising in your mind is; “creativity and marketing don’t go hand in hand”. How can I be creative while creating CTA?

But the fact is, you can be creative with Call To action buttons.

Also, it is very important for grabbing attention.

Why? Because people always see lots of Call To Action buttons everywhere and they usually avoid them.

If you create a Call To Action button same as others, people will never respond to you.

To make your visitors click on your CTA buttons, you must be creative with it.

Now, let’s see some creative Call To Actions buttons:

Creative call to action

Here in the image, we can see that they have given a hook point first by writing “Our Emails Are Pretty Awesome”

And then, a button “JOIN THE FAMILY” instead of “sign up for the newsletter”

When visitors see this button, they will click it for sure!

Basically, you just need to swap some common words with creative ones and show your creativity.

You can take ideas and inspiration to make your Call To Action buttons more creative because it definitely boosts the clicks and boosts the leads.

Focus On The Value You Are Going To Provide.

This is also one of the best techniques to create a CTA.

Your CTA must focus on what value you are going to provide to them.

Such CTAs usually come with Call To Action words like  “free” or “free trial”.

For example, you can see:

Free trial example

Another example you can see:

What is a call to action

This is the example from Spotify, focusing on the value it will provide. The value is “free”.

This encourages the visitors to take action and click on the Call To Action button.

Why? Because it directly shows the visitors the value you are going to provide.

Use FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) To Create Urgency

To create a call to action button, FOMO guarantees you success.

It triggers them psychologically. It is the most effective motivator to take action.

It works by making people think that they will lose an opportunity that is never going to come back if they don’t take action right now.

Always remember, your customers love to buy but do not want to be sold!!!

And here you have to sell your product or services with creating a sense of urgency. By generating the need and showing them the limited offer to buy that particular thing will encourage them to take the decision faster.

One of the most common Call To Action words that are used in FOMO is SALE.

Here we have some Call To Action marketing examples:

Sale button

Another example you can see:

Limited offer

Text Size And Colours Triggers The Emotions.

The text size and colors are the most important part of any call to action statement.

However, this is also very true that we cannot use any particular font size or color in every CTA statement.

It differs from CTA to CTA.

Every CTA is intended to target a particular audience that’s why it depends on the audience.

For example, the text size, color, hook points of the Call To Action statement depends on the audience you are going to target.

Each audience is unique and responds differently to the CTA statement.

You must be knowing that colors play an important role in provoking the emotions of the viewers subconsciously.

So, choose the appropriate one.

And, don’t forget your main form of communication is Visual Representation.

So, you will have to use colors for customers to take the desired actions.

One example you can take:

Klientboost homepage

You can take the help of this color emotion guide to choose the appropriate color for your CTA marketing.

Color emotion guide

Now, you can choose how you want to make your audience feel.

Make Your CTA Button Visible

Designing your CTA button is also important.

But again, the question that arises is; “How would you make your CTA button stand out?”

Let’s take a look at what experts say about designing a CTA button.

A) Use background color effectively to make your CTA button stand out. Make sure you use white space background properly.

B) The CTA button must be large but not overwhelming.

C) Optimize the CTA button for mobile users.

As you can see all the points that I am trying to convey, suits the above CTA button.

By choosing the bright color for CTA, you can draw the attention of users to it.

Repeating Again And Again…

The thought that might be buzzing into your mind is; “why to do repetition? It will bore my visitors and they will bounce back for sure!”

But trust me! Nothing is going to happen like this.

Above all, you will get more clicks and will be able to generate more leads.

You need to create multiple CTA buttons on the page so that it triggers the visitors psychologically.

Or, the user may click on the CTA button at any moment while scrolling down.

A web page can contain 2-3 CTAs not more than that.

Let me make it clear to you with an example.

These are the screenshots from my website. I have given the same CTA button 3 times on the same web page.

This is the first CTA button.

CTA button

Then, comes the second one.

CTA buttons

And finally, the last one. This one is my favorite, perfect color, perfect texts, and the right use of white space.

CTA button example

I use the same CTA button “30 MINUTE STRATEGY SESSION” 3 times on the homepage.

I did this because I wanted to trigger my audience psychologically.

If the visitor scrolls down the web page and sees the CTA button, again and again, they are likely to click on it.

A/B testing for CTA

Do you know the percentage ratio can vary from industry to industry, a helpful and optimized CTA should generate approximately a 2% click-through rate?

Source: precisionmarketinggroup.com

That simply means, while 100 people visit your web page, 2 out of them will definitely click on your CTA.

So, in such a case, it is very important to test your CTA regularly.

AB testing is the best one to do that,

In AB testing what you need to do is to create a cloned CTA button in your website, change some elements that you would like to change. Like, color, language, or shape & size of the CTA button.

An example of AB testing for CTAs

call to action keys

Then, you will have 2 variations of CTA buttons.

When the visitors visit your web page and click on any of the variations, the data will get saved for your analysis.

Split testing allows you to figure out the variables your audience subconsciously reacts to.

That’s how you can compare both the variables and know what your visitors want.

You can permanently use the CTA button that is performing better.

Hence, you will get the best CTA button for your website that customers really like.

Conclusion

As we all are witnessing, marketing has changed the way it used to be done. But the ultimate goal is still the same. You just need to drive the customers to take action.

A call to action can help you to make this happen. As a marketer, it’s effective for you to make effective call-to-action strategies.

I have described in detail how you can create an actionable CTA button and get mesmerizing results.

If you have any doubt or query you can ask below in the comment section. I’d love to help!
