The attainment of top page status or even domination in search results pages is not really that easy a task, even harder is staying on the first page. Competition for keyword space with global companies looking for appearance on the same page is one motivation for SEO efforts to never cease. The Google algorithms that determine who and what appears on the uppermost results of a search look at the freshness and readability of content before suggesting it to search results. This places a lot of burden for owners on content in order to stay relevant and subsequently on the number one spot.

The Key to Maintaining Freshness

The more people talking about your content, the better chances you will be found, this means sharing your posts to your followers on social media is an important task to give you the traffic that tells Google that you are a hot find.

Writing new content on a daily and possibly updating the sitemap is a sure way to add more authority and making sure your website doesn’t gather cobwebs. The logic is really solid; there is no reason why an article about getting your first car in 1999 should appear on the first page of a search conducted this year.

Companies with thousands of backlinks to articles they has used keywords optimally appeared on almost all organic search results that were in line with their industry. This means reputation is taken seriously by Google, to get on the top, a lot of visitors from your site must be coming from all directions.

Companies can attain the perfect situation such as the one with great organic reach through deliberate forum posting using their content to help other community members and linking back to their website to encourage users reading their content.

Good Bounce Rate = Good Rank

A good bounce rate means people don’t come to your website, look at the content and immediately leave in search of better content and proposals. When this happens, Google drops your page down in rankings. It is the task of website owners to monitor the activity of visitors to their site and place content that compels them to stay for long enough that they eventually buy what is being sold. There are applications, like SumoMe, that will give recorded reports of exactly what a visitor clicks, which can be used to improve their experience and possibly keep them hooked to your content. All of which maintain the number 1 position that SEO efforts result with.

While staying on the first page requires one to get to the pinnacle position in the first instance, it should not be hard to stay there by using the same strategy implemented to get there. It is a daily effort of measuring results and patching efforts to improving those results.
